Biozinc-i | Combination | 100 ml | Syrup |
Description
Biozinc-i is a special preparation of Iron, Zinc and B-vitamins. In Biozinc-i, Iron is present as Iron Polymaltose complex, a novel iron preparation, which contains non-ionic ferric iron and polymaltose in a stable complex. This facilitates a controlled absorption of the iron when it comes in contact with the mucosal cell surface. Being non-ionic, Iron Polymaltose complex is more tolerable than conventional Iron form.
Composition
Each 5 ml syrup contains Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose complex INN 200 mg equivalent to elemental Iron 50 mg, Thiamine Hydrochloride BP 5 mg. Riboflavin Sodium Phosphate BP 2.74 mg equivalent to Riboflavin 2 mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 2 mg, Nicotinamide BP 20 mg & Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate BP 27.5 mg equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg.
Indications And Uses
Biozinc-i is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Iron, B-vitamins and Zinc deficiencies in infants, children & adults.
Dosage And Administration
Adults: 10 ml (2 teaspoonful) twice daily or as recommended by the physician. Children: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) once or twice daily or as recommended by the physician. Infants: 0.33 ml/kg body weight daily or as recommended by the physician.
Side Effect
Biozinc-i is generally well tolerated. However, a few side effects of oral iron preparations, including nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea may occur.
Precaution
Caution should be taken in the conditions where there is a risk of iron overload, such as haemochromatosis, thalassemia, haemosiderosis or haemolytic anaemia.
Use In Pregnancy Lactation
Recommended.
Drug Interactions
Generally no interactions have been observed. Since the iron is complex bound, ionic interactions with foodstuff components (phytates, oxalates, tannin, etc) and concomitantly administered medicaments (tetracycline, antacids) are unlikely to occur.
Overdosage
In case of overdosage, initially epigastric pain, diarrhoea & vomiting can occur and may include metabolic acidosis, convulsions and coma after apparent recovery. Should seek emergency medical attention in case of overdose. Initially an emetic should be given and then gastric lavage and general supportive measures should be employed.
Storage
Keep in a cool and dry place, protect from light.
Contraindications
Biozinc-i is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of this product.
