Description

Cinarzin (Cinnarizine) is a piperazine derivative with histamine H1receptor and calcium-channel blocking activities. Cinarzin diminishes the main action of histamine in the body by competitive, reversible blockade of histamine receptor sites on tissue.

Cinarzin tablet: Each tablet contains Cinnarizine BP 15 mg.

Cerebral circulatory disorders: • Prophylaxis and maintenance therapy for symptoms of cerebral vascular spasm such as: dizziness, tinnitus, sleep rhythm disorder, depression, loss of memory etc. • Sequelae of cerebral and cranial trauma. • Postapoplectic disorders. • Migraine. Peripheral circulatory disorders: • Prophylaxis and maintenance therapy for symptoms of vascular spasm and arteriosclerosis such as: acrocyanosis, intermittent claudication, cold extremities, paresthesia, varicose ulcer, Raynaud's syndrome etc. Disorder of balance: • Prophylaxis and maintenance therapy for symptoms of labyrinthine, vestibular irritability, Meniere's syndrome such as: vertigo, dizziness, tinnitus, nystagmus, nausea, vomiting. • Prophylaxis of motion sickness.

Usual Adult dose: 15 to 30 mg three times daily. Children (5 to 12 years): Half of the adult dose. Motion sickness: A dose of 30 mg two hours before travel, then 15 mg every 8 hours during journey if necessary. Children (5 to 12 years): Half of the adult dose. Peripheral arterial disease: 75 mg two or three times daily or as prescribed by the physician.

Somnolence and gastrointestinal disturbance may occur, but are extremely rare and transient.

It has been found to decrease blood pressure significantly. However, the drug should be used with reasonable caution in hypotensive patients.

The safety of Cinnarizine in human pregnancy has not been established although studies in animals have not demonstrated teratogenic effects. Therefore, it is not advisable to administer Cinnarizine in pregnancy.

No drug interactions have been seen with Cinnarizine when administered concomitantly with antihypertensives, diuretics, anticoagulants or hypoglycaemics.

Cinnarizine shouldn't be given to premature infants or neonates. It causes drowsiness, so patients should not drive or operate machineries. The drug is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to it.

Cinarzin Tablet: Each box contains 10 x 10's tablet in blister strip.
