Description
Sodium Cromoglycate inhibits the degranulation of sensitized mast cells which occurs after exposure to specific antigens. Sodium Cromoglycate acts by inhibiting the release of histamine and SRS-A (slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis) from the mast cell.
Composition
Cromolin Eye/Nasal Drops: Each ml contains Sodium Cromoglycate BP 40 mg.
Indications And Uses
It is indicated in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis, vernal keratoconjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis and vernal keratitis, Hay fever conjunctivitis, giant papillary conjunctivitis.
Dosage And Administration
Usual recommended dose: 1-2 drops in each eye 4-6 times a day at regular intervals. But several studies proved that 4% sodium cromoglycate eye-drops twice daily is as effective as 2% sodium cromoglycate four times daily in the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.
Side Effect
Blurred vision, burning or stinging, cold syndrome, dry eye, foreign body sensation, hyperemia, hypersensitivity, keratitis, lid edema.
Precaution
To prevent contaminating the dropper tip and solution, care should be taken not to touch the eyelids or surrounding areas with the dropper tip of the bottle. The recommended frequency of administration should not be exceeded. Do not wear contact lenses during treatment with sodium Cromoglycate.
Use In Pregnancy Lactation
Caution should be excerised when administered to Pregnant woman and lacting mother.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in those patients who have shown hypersensitivity to Sodium Cromoglycate or to any of the other ingredients of eye drops.

Cromolin Eye/Nasal Drops : Each plastic dropper bottle contains 10 ml sterile eye/nasal drops.
