Description

Fungin-B cream is a combination of Clotrimazole, a broad spectrum antimycotic & betamethasone, a topical corticosteroid preparation for dermatological use. Clotrimazole inhibits fungal growth by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis. Betamethasone is a topical corticosteroid having anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic, vasoconstrictive action.

Fungin-B Cream contains Clotrimazole BP 1% w/w & Betamethasone (As Valerate) BP 0.1% w/w

Fungin-B cream combines the broad spectrum antifungal activity of Clotrimazole with the anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive actions of Betamethasone valerate and is indicated for short-term topical treatment of the following dermal infections: Tinea pedis, Tinea cruris, Tinea corporis due to Trichophyton rubrum, T.Mentagrophyies, Epidermophyton floccosum, Candidiasis due to Candida albicans.

Gently massage sufficient Fungin-B Cream into the affected and surrounding skin areas twice daily, in the morning and evening for two weeks in tinea cruris, tinea corporis and candidiasis and four weeks in tinea pedis. Clinical improvement, with relief of erythema and pruritus, usually occurs within the first 3 to 5 days of treatment, if a patient with tinea cruris, tinea corporis or candidiasis shows no clinical improvement after one week of treatment with Fungin-B, the diagnosis should be reviewed. Similarly in tinea pedis diagnosis should be reviewed if no improvement is shown after two weeks of treatment.

Rarely seen adverse reactions include : burning, stinging, rash, oedema, pruritus, urticaria, general irritation of skin.

In the presence of bacterial or viral infections appropriate concomitant therapy should be administered. If a favourable response does not occur, treatment with Fungin-B should be discontinued. If used in children or on the face, courses should be limited to 5 days. Long term continuous therapy should be avoided in all patients irrespective of age.

Fungin-B Cream should only be used in pregnancy if the benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus and such use should not be extensive, i.e. in large amounts or for long period.It is not known whether the component of Fungin-B are excreted in human milk and therefore caution should be exercised when treating nursing mother.
