Description

Tolfenamic acid is a potent prostaglandin biosynthesis inhibitor. Tolfenamic Acid is an NSAID with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. It acts by inhibiting prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis.

Each film-coated tablet contains Tolfenamic Acid BP 200 mg.

It is indicated for the treatment of Acute Migraine.

Adults: 200 mg when the first symptoms of migraine appear. The treatment can be repeated once after 1-2 hours if a satisfactory response is not obtained. Children: Pediatrics’ dosage regimen has not yet been established. Elderly: Normal adult dose.

Tolfenamic acid is well tolerated at the recommended dose. Said effects includes painful urination especially in males, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, indigestion, redness of the skin, headache, tremor, fatigue and pulmonary infiltration.

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, bleeding disorders, heart diseases, peptic ulcer, high blood pressure, infections, liver or kidney impairment, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category- C. Studies in pregnant women have not been established. So, the use of other NSAIDs, tolfenamic acid should not be given in the last trimester, due to risks of premature closure of the ductus arteriosus and prolonged parturition. Lactation: Tolfenamic Acid appears in breast milk in very low concentrations. So, it should be avoided when breastfeeding.

Tolfenamic acid is contraindicated in active peptic ulceration, significantly impaired kidney or liver function and in patients in whom attacks of asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis are precipitated by aspirin or other NSAIDs.

Store at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep away from children.

Each box contains 3x10 tablets in Alu-Alu Blister pack.
