Description
Moodon is a combined preparation of Nortriptyline HCI and Fluphenazine HCI. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant having less sedative effect whereas Fluphenazine is a potent phenothiazine derivative whose principal actions are tranquillisation & anliemesis. Moodon' has extraordinary effect to manage the emotionally disturbed patients suffering from anxiety or depression or both without developing drug dependence.
Composition
Each tablet contains Nortriptyline HCI BP 11.4 mg & Fluphenazine HCI BP 0.5 mg.
Indications And Uses
Emotional disturbance, Anxiety, Tension, Depression, Fatigue, Sleep disorder, Headache, Bodyachc & Gastric problems.
Dosage And Administration
Adult : I tablet 3 times daily or as advised by the physicians. Children : Not recommended under the age of 14 years.
Side Effect
Drowsiness, faintness, dryness of mouth, constipation, tachycardia, nasal congestion, blurred vision and excitement.
Precaution
Moodon should be given with caution to patients with glaucoma, prostate enlargement, cardiac failure and myocardial infarction. Caution should be taken for patients who have already taken large doses of other sedative-hypnotic drugs. The drug may impair alertness and abilities required to drive a car or to operate machinery.
Use In Pregnancy Lactation
Safety of this drug in pregnancy has not yet been established. As this drug is excreted into the breast milk, so it is not recommended for breast feeding mothers.
Contraindications
Moodon' is contraindicated for patients with a history of epilepsy or brain damage, blood dyscrasias, severe cardiac insufficiency, renal or liver damage. It should be avoided to give Moodon with MAOIs. Moodon is contraindicated to the patients who show hypersensitivity to Nortriptyline or Fluphenazine or to both.
