Ofloxacin is a bacterial DNA gyrase inhibitor, the enzyme responsible for duplication, transcription and repair of bacterial DNA.
Obactin sterile eye drops: Each ml contains Ofloxacin USP 3 mg.
Indications And Uses
Obactin Eye Drops is indicated for the treatment of external ocular infections such as acute & sub-acute conjunctivitis, keratitis, kerato-conjunctivitis, blepharo-conjunctivitis, blepharitis, corneal ulcer and pre-operative prophylaxis in ocular surgery.
Dosage And Administration
Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) every 2 to 4 hours for the first two days and then 4 times daily. The length of treatment should not exceed ten days.
Transient ocular irritation, burning, stinging, redness, itching or photophobia has been reported.
Prolonged use of eye drops may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms and secondary infection respectively.
Use In Pregnancy Lactation
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. This drug should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Use in lactation: It is not known whether Ofloxacin is excreted in human milk. Cautions should be taken when Ofloxacin eye drops is administered during lactation.
Store at room temperature (15°-25°C) and dry place protected from light. Do not use more than 30 days after first opening of the bottle. Keep out of the reach of children.
Obactin eye drops is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to Ofloxacin or any other component of this preparation.
Obactin Eye Drops: Each plastic dropper bottle contains 5 ml sterile Eye Drops.
