Description
Vitamin E & Vitamin C work as antioxidants and they have free radicals scavenging activity. Lutein protects macula from the damage caused by oxidation and light. Zinc works as co-enzyme of a numerous enzymes. Copper plays an important role in the growth, skeletal integrity and development of nervous system.
Composition
Optagold Capsule: Each capsule contains Vitamin E BP 30 mg, Vitamin C BP 60 mg, Lutein USP 6 mg, Zinc (as Zinc Oxide) BP 15 mg, and Copper Ph. Gr. (as Cupric Oxide) 2 mg.
Indications And Uses
Optagold capsule is indicated as antioxidant for Age Related Eye Diseases (ARED) e.g. Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) & cataract and to provide nutritional support for the eye.
Dosage And Administration
1-2 capsules / day or as recommended by the physician.
Side Effect
Large dose of Vitamin C & Vitamin E cause diarrhea and other gastrointestinal disturbances. Fatigue and weakness have also been reported.
Precaution
Vitamin C should be given with care to patients with hyperoxaluria. It is also to be given carefully to the patients taking oral Vitamin C & Vitamin E.
Use In Pregnancy Lactation
It is recommended to consult the physician before using this drug during pregnancy and lactation.
Drug Interactions
This product should be given carefully in patients taking oral anticoagulants or estrogen. It has found to antagonize the effects of Vitamin K leading to an increase in blood clotting time in these patients.
Storage
Store at room temperature ( 15°-25°C) and dry place protected from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
Contraindications
This product is contraindicated to the patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the drug.
